My day in photos.

Do work, letterpress, organize a bucket of type. Done and done.

Hillman Curtis has passed away, a great loss in the film/design industry. He did some really beautiful and fantastic film work and has been a source of inspiration to me for awhile. Major bummer, but his work will speak forever.

A letter to design clients of the world,

Dear future/prospective client,

I will not work for free. I will not be taken advantage of. You will get a quality design from me, then you will pay me. This is how design works. You will communicate with me thoughout the design process so I can give you exactly what you want. I will work my hardest to design something timeless and beautiful. I promise you this. In return you will not dick around about “funding” or “budgets” you will hand me a check and I will be on my merry.

The only time I will ever do spec work is if I think you will hire me.

Money can’t buy happiness but it can pay my rent and help keep me fed.

If you think your niece could do a better job then get your niece to do it.

Sincerely,

Every Designer, Ever.

Let’s start a design gang.

We can go around and vandalize shitty posters, loiter outside of Office Max, and drink cheap wine and talk about our rivals “Speikerman’s Gang”. And when the cops would roll up and tell us to go home we’d push our glasses farther up our noses and look ‘em in the eye and say, “Desgn Gang for life, BITCH.”

Now… WHO’S WITH ME!!!!

Yummy typography.

Yummy typography.

Probably one of if not the favorite gig poster I’ve ever seen.

I’ve been scouring books and webpages for DAYS trying to think of the names of the designers who influence my work and I found them! So now I’ll share!
This is Brandon Schaefer’s work. I totally dig minimalist poster design so he’s an obvious one. Click on the images for the link to his flickr.
